Chapter 79: Story’s Almost Over, Though.

Phineas and Ferb does not belong to me.

“She said that Suzy threatened Ferb and I if you wouldn’t read her mind. Then she said that you replied, ‘why would I care?’ What was that about?” Perry hands Phineas a mug of hot chocolate.

The teen takes it gratefully, “I was trying to get out of it… But… She was smarter than that.” He closes his eyes, then opens them again, pain filling them. “It was either go into Candace’s mind, or lose my two best friends.”

Perry sits down across from him, also holding a mug. “Ferb said… that you had been in his mind before.”

Wincing a little, Phineas nods. “He asked me if I could find him a memory of his mother when we were… fourteen. I refused at first, but he really wanted to remember what she looked like.”

“Could you find a memory for me?” The platypus takes a sip of his drink. The teen’s face has gone pale.

He closes his eyes, “What is it of?” He sighs, “I’m not saying yes yet, but…”

Perry watches him worriedly, “It’s of my little sister. We were separated when I was captured by poachers, and I can’t remember what she looked or sounded like.”

Phineas’ head snaps up sharply, “You were captured by poachers? What?”

The platypus rubs his bill sadly, “When I was born, well, hatched I guess, I lived in Australia with my mom and sister. When I was three months old, I fell into a trap, and a bunch of men pushed me into a cage and brought me here to be sold as a pet. Major Monogram bought me from the pet store and began my training. When I was about a year-old, you adopted me and brought me home.” He looks down, trying to hide the tears in his eyes.

Phineas bites his lip nervously, “Are you sure you want me to? I don’t know how strong your defense will be, and it might hurt a little.”

Perry flinches slightly but nods, “Phineas, I want to remember her.”

The teen sighs, “Maybe… tonight. Not right now.”

------------------------

Perry looks up as Phineas lies down on his bed. “You okay?”

“Izzy was scared of me.” He groans, putting his hands over his face, “I feel sick.”

The platypus climbs up and curls up at the foot of the raft bed. “I’ll talk to her in the morning, Phineas.”

Phineas smiles a little, “Thanks.” He rubs his forehead, wincing. “That anti-evil ray you and Ferb put together gave me a headache.”

“Sorry…” Perry thinks back to the first moment he saw his owner after Suzy had zapped him, “You were a really good actor.”

“Either I or Zon could pay for that door. That kid has a lot of money…” Phineas shudders just thinking about her. “Anyway, Ferb’s working late tonight. Honestly, I don’t blame him. But you wanted me to find that memory for you?”

Perry nods. “If you don’t want to…”

Phineas sits up, “As long as you’re okay with it.”

“I want to remember what happened that day.” Perry sighs, “I can’t remember if she was taken too or just killed.”

The teen looks down awkwardly, “This is… the most uncomfortable part for me.”

The platypus folds his paws together, intertwining his fingers. “What do I do?”

“Just… sit still, and relax I guess.” Phineas bites his lower lip, preparing himself to travel inside his pet’s mind.
This scene took about two weeks to finish from this point on. For some reason it’s quite hard to write scenes that are inside someone’s mind.

Perry closes his eyes and tilts his head downwards. This is a weird experience for him, but he really wants to know if his sister is free or trapped somewhere in a cage.

Phineas places his hand on Perry’s head, and is soon facing the agent’s mental defense. He gently climbs through it, causing Perry to shiver. “Okay, buddy. Think as far back as you remember.”

The platypus opens his eyes, “That is really weird.” He thinks back to when the poachers threw him in the truck. “Now what?”

“I’m going to have to do a little digging. It’ll feel really weird.” Phineas’ voice echoes through his pet’s mind. “And yes, more weird than this.”

Shivering slightly, Perry closes his eyes again, steeling himself for the odd sensation.

----------------------------

“Well… that was extremely unpleasant.” Perry shudders, being careful not to accidentally remove Phineas’ hand.

Phineas coughs to get his pet’s attention, “I found the memories.”

Perry gulps, “Well, now what?”

The mind-reader bites his lip, “I’ll move it to your accessible memory area, lock it there, and then I’ll come out so you can relive it.”

The platypus winces slightly, “You can watch it if you want to.”

“I’d prefer to give you some privacy…” Phineas’ voice sounds uncomfortable.

Perry closes his eyes, almost able to see Phineas if he focuses. “Are you okay?”

The teen grimaces inside his pet’s mind. “Not really.” He sighs, “I thought I was used to you being a secret agent. But it still hurts a little, I guess.”

“Is my mind really that ‘agent-y?’” Perry frowns at the words he had accidentally thought, but stops regretting them almost instantly when Phineas laughs, sounding a little more relaxed.

He finishes locking the memory into place, and heads back towards the outskirts of Perry’s mind. He had watched the memory when he found it, and was now feeling very sympathetic for his pet. “It is. Everywhere there are… well, almost everywhere. There are all sorts of… I don’t know… floating thoughts that are very, to quote, agent-y.”

Perry grits his teeth as Phineas emerges, fighting nausea. “Were you reading them?”

Phineas shakes his head emphatically, now back in his body. “I wouldn’t betray your privacy like that.”

The platypus sits up, “I probably would have read them if I was in your situation. You are a very honourable person, Phineas.”

“No I’m not.” Phineas strokes Perry’s back absentmindedly. “I almost enjoyed breaking into Candace’s mind. I almost enjoyed  her reaction.”

Perry hugs him, “Almost is not the same thing as  actual enjoyment.”

The teen winces, “It hurts, P.”

His pet opens his bill to say something else, but closes it again. He really wants to see that memory. “I’m going to take a bit to watch that memory. Then we’ll get back to this talk.”

“Okay.” Phineas lies down, grabbing a novel that his librarian recommended for him. “When you’re done, I’ll be here, reading Frindle.”

“That’s a kid book, Phineas.”  Perry chuckles, curling up beside his owner.

The teen rolls his eyes, “Apparently it’s about an innovative kid. Sherman thought I would like it.”

The platypus closes his eyes, “Yeah, you said. It’s still for kids.”

“I’m a kid at heart.” Phineas sighs. “Watch your memory.”

Perry obliges, thinking back to the day he was caught in the poacher’s trap.

It was a perfect summer day, and Perry, Penney, and their mother are walking along the side of the river. Perry and Penny run ahead, playfighting.

Suddenly the mother platypus calls out, <“Perry! Look out!”>

But the warning comes too late as the young male platypus trips and falls into a cage. It’s the first of many traps that the baby will face in his life. “Mama! Help me out!”

Alas, though his mother scratches at the lock, it is locked securely. Suddenly, the family hear two voices coming towards them, and the two female platypi scurry away. Perry huddles down into a ball as a large man with a bushy beard stomps up to the cage he’s in. “Hey, mate! We caught a baby platypus!”

Minutes later, as Perry is carried away, he sees his sister being lifted roughly by the other poacher. <“Penney!”>

The men laugh, “Two for one!” The man without a beard looks sadly down at his feet, “Just too bad I couldn’t keep the mother. She tried to bite my hand off, so I shot ‘er.”

Perry’s eyes well up with tears, and he sobs, refusing even to be comforted by his sister in the cage next to him. The siblings are separated before the hour is out, and Perry never sees his sister or mother again.

He opens his eyes with a start, and looks up at Phineas. The teen is reading his book, just glancing back at Perry from time to time. “Are you okay, boy?”

“I don’t know…” The platypus climbs up beside his owner. “I don’t know.”

Chapter 78: Ha Ha, Just Kidding

Phineas and Ferb does not belong to me.

Phineas blinks, trying to focus. Everything is dark and blurry, but he seems to be strapped down on a bed. As that sinks in, he jolts, and tries to escape.

“Won’t do you any good.” Nicolas steps out of the shadows. “Hello Phineas.”

His son collapses again, “Where am I?”

Nicolas sits down next to him and puts his feet up, leaning back in his chair. “In my psychology office. They asked me to get any remaining evil out of your brain.”

Phineas grits his teeth and breaks out of the restraints, “Have you already been in my mind?”

His father shakes his head, “I was waiting until you woke up…”

“Good-bye.” Phineas opens a window and steps out of it.

Running over to the window and looking down, Nicolas sees his son jump off the ledge below. “What are you, crazy?”

The eighteen year-old yells back, “No, I’m stupid! There’s a difference!”

“Not really!” The father sits down on the bed his son was strapped into a couple seconds ago. “I didn’t know he was that strong…” He winces, “I’m doomed when Phineas repeats what I said.”

-------------------------------

“We didn’t ask Nicolas to go into your mind, Phineas…” Ferb looks down at Perry, confused. “Did Candace-?”

She walks in, “No I did not. I can’t believe you would think such a thing!”

Phineas looks away from her, a tear rolling down his cheek. “I’m sorry, Candy. For everything.”

Candace backs away a little. “I forgive you, Phineas… but… I can’t trust-”

“I know exactly how you feel. I… stopped even talking to him after he broke into my mind, so… whatever you want to do is fine.” Phineas leaves the room.

Ferb looks at her worriedly, “I should have gone instead.”

She sits down, “I just… I can’t.” Her eyes fill with tears, “I want to go to him and hug him and tell him that I trust him but I can’t, because I don’t.”

Perry runs after his owner. “Phineas! Wait!”

Phineas turns around, “What is it, Perry?”

The platypus beckons for him to kneel down. When Phineas complies, his pet hugs him tightly. “You saved them all. Thank-you. And I trust you.”

The teen blinks, surprised, but he hugs Perry back. “I hated it there. The only comfort was making sure Pinky was okay for Isabella.” He pauses, wincing, “Can we not tell her I was forced to use him for weapons testing?”

Perry raises an eyebrow skeptically, “Won’t he tell her?”

“He promised he wouldn’t.” Phineas stands up. “Hey, we should get out of the hallway…” He looks down, “I want to see Izzy, but she probably won’t want to see me.”

Major Monogram walks up behind them, “Hello Flynn.”

Turning sharply, Phineas salutes his superior. “Hello Major.”

Monogram looks him over, “You look tired, kid. You know what, being as you just saved the world, go home and get some sleep.” He reaches out to put a hand on Phineas’ shoulder, but stops himself. “Call your girlfriend. We’re returning Agent Pinky to her tonight… and I guess he’ll stay there. He’s retiring.”

Perry chatters happily. Just to make a sound. “Good on him!”

The major looks down at his top agent, “Can you go prepare the others to have everyone come back? A lot of them are retiring to be with their families, but some of them will be coming back to work.”

Carl runs through the hallway, laughing happily. “Major Monogram, it’s wonderful, isn’t it?”

Phineas raises an eyebrow at the enthusiastic man, “Are you okay, Carl?”

“Everything is wonderful!” Carl vanishes down the hallway, skipping now.

Major Monogram chews on his lip uncomfortably, “I should probably look into that…” He follows the skipping intern.

Perry looks down, “Candace… said something I wanted to ask you about.”

His owner flinches, “Can we go somewhere private?”

Chapter 77: The End

Phineas and Ferb does not belong to me.

The next day, Phineas is getting ready to be at the front of the large robot army for the first wave of the invasion. “This is it, Pinky.”

“The day you destroy any last hope of a relationship with your family?” The dog smirks.

The inventor aims a freeze ray at him. Pinky’s eyes widen, and he ducks. “Seriously? You think I would actually shoot you? After… nevermind. Plus, I already did that, remember?” Phineas sighs, putting the weapon away. “Oh, and by the way, if… ‘we’ succeed, Zon says that you’re the first one to be fed to the sharks. Then Candace.” (*By “we” he means the bad team trying to take over the world.*)

Pinky looks up. “Oh, please fail! Please fail!”

Phineas chuckles. “We’ll see about that.” He steps into his armour. “I suggest you learn how to swim, puppy.”

------------------------

The army marches through Danville, holding their weapons ready. General Phineas leads them to all of O.W.C.A’s entrances, and orders them to wait until his signal, when they will freeze all of O.W.C.A. at once.

When they have surrounded H.Q, Phineas gives the order, and raises his freeze ray, aiming it at the front door of the agency. As one, the army pulls the triggers on their weapons-

-and promptly freeze. When mass producing the weapons for the final march against the Tri-State Area, Phineas had used a different blueprint. This weapon freezes whoever pulls the trigger. Phineas is frozen as well, but he squeezes the trigger again ever so slightly, signalling Pinky back at Zon’s lair.

----------------------

Pinky presses a button hidden in the frame of the drawing Phineas gave him, which releases all the prison doors, and opens Zon’s trapdoor to the shark tank, which Phineas had frozen before he left.

----------------------

Zon and Rodney scream as they fall towards the ice. When they hit, they both slip into unconsciousness. The last thing they see is all of O.W.C.A’s agents coming towards them holding freeze rays.

----------------------

Candace stares out the window, thinking about her brother. She wonders why Perry and Ferb had seemed so calm when she told them her account of Phineas.

Perry runs into the room, "Candace, you've got to come with me!"

She looks up at Ferb who is leaning in the doorway. "What's going on?"

"He came through for us, Candace. That's what's going on." The inventor has a sly smile on his face. He grabs his sister's hand and leads her to the surveillance room. There's several video feeds of frozen robots all over the walls, and one has a very familiar triangular head at the front of the group.

Candace stares, and Carl smirks. "Okay, I'm going to show you something amazing." He presses a button on his keyboard, and another screen jumps to life.

Pinky the chihuahua fills the screen, and grins. "Perry and Ferb, your plan worked perfectly. Well, mostly. Somehow, Dennis got away, but we got Rodney and Joshsyn. And Perry? Callie is okay."

"Your plan?" Candace spins around and glares at her brother and pet. "What exactly did this plan include?"

Perry flinches, "Ferbthoughtofithemightbeabletoexplainitbetter!"

Ferb glares at his pet, “Really?”

Candace crosses her arms at them. “Ferb. What. Was. The. Plan.”

He rubs his arm uncomfortably, “Phineas… was a mole.”
“You put my little brother into a situations where he might have to use his abilities for EVIL?” She lunges at them, “He did have to. He went inside my head! Do you know how-”

Perry stops her with a look. “Without his help, we would not have just won.”

Chapter 76: *Twitching* I can’t believe myself…

Phineas and Ferb does not belong to me.

Candace tries to fight her captors, but her hands and legs are frozen to the wall. “Suzy, I don’t know what you think you’re going to do to me. I’m not going to give you any information.”

The girl laughs, the sound of pure evil coming out her mouth. “Aren’t you?”

The agent pales as her younger brother steps out from behind the robots. “Hello, Candace.” He has a pained look in his eyes, but the rest of his face looks mean, and his voice is menacing.

She struggles as Phineas gets closer, “No, please…” Tears stream down her face, “You promised! You said this could never happen! Phineas, I know you’re in there! Please, you’ve never broken a promise, don’t start now…”

Okay, hold everything! I can’t do this. I can’t. This, this scene? It’s driving me crazy. I want so badly to write it, but I’m not sure what the reaction will be.

So… Yeah. I’m going to explode. I saw the finale of the show, and seeing Phineas smile at the end… writing him as evil just isn’t working today! :(

----------------------

Okay, I’m back. I got some advice from a friend, and she had a really great idea. So thanks to her for this. :)

His eyes widen. “Joshsyn, I can’t do this. Not to her.”

The twelve year-old rolls her eyes. “Well, Phineas, if you refuse to read the despised one’s mind for information on O.W.C.A’s plans, I will have Rodney find Ferb and Perry, freeze them, and use his pain inflictors on them until they give us the information.”

Phineas narrows his eyes. “Why would I care about that?” Candace gasps.

“Even I still care about my family, Phineas. Now do what I say, or Ferb and Perry will not be more than burnt toast.” Zon crosses her arms and nods in Candace’s direction.

The eighteen year-old sighs, and turns towards his sister. He meets her eyes with his, but she turns away, struggling harder than before. Reaching out a hand, he places it on her shoulder.

Candace feels tears streaming down her cheeks as her brother “walks” through her mind. I’m sorry, Candace. She blinks. It’s her brother’s voice, inside her head. Tell me where to stay out of. Just think the places you want to keep private.

Phineas is standing in the central part of his sister’s mind. He hasn’t moved since he got in. Actually, it was quite easy. Her mental defense was like a wet tissue. Her voice comes to his ears, “My memories, please stay out of my memories.”

He smiles sadly, “Got it.” Searching for the information about O.W.C.A, he wonders what the fake plan they’ve told Candace is.

She can feel him moving around inside her head. It’s not a good feeling, and it’s making her nauseous. Phineas… please.

His voice is pained, She’ll hurt Ferb. And Perry… Candace, just think out the plan, and I can leave. She looks over at his physical body, still standing there with his hand on her arm.

What would happen if I removed your hand from my arm? She almost has her hand free.

Now he sounds scared. If you do that, first, it will cause me a lot of pain, and second, I’ll be trapped in here forever, because my body will die.

She winces. Oh. I won’t do that, then.

Phineas grabs the information he needs to keep Ferb safe, and starts to back out of his sister’s mind. Then he pauses, “Wait a minute, you’re frozen to the wall. How would you remove my hand?”

“Er… let’s not go there.” Candace winces, “Please, Phineas, I’m about to throw up all over you.”

Suddenly, he’s out of her mind. His body jumps a bit as he enters back into it, and his eyes open. “Got it, Joshsyn.” They turn to walk away, but Candace leaps out of the ice and kicks her brother down, then goes for Zon. The robots quickly refreeze her, except this time covering her entire body with the ice. Phineas winces as he stands back up. “Nice kick, sis.”

She growls from inside the ice. “I vry mch dslk u rht nw.” *(I very much dislike you right now.)

“Yeah, it was nice to see you too.” Phineas follows his boss back out of the alley.

--------------------------

“Candace, are you okay?” Perry runs up to his partner, “We tracked you as quickly as we could, but something was blocking the signal!”

She raises an eyebrow, the ice having melted down to her neck. “What do you think that ‘something’ was, Perry?”

He rolls his eyes, “Well it was obviously Zon. But are you okay?”

Candace bites her lip sadly and looks down at the ground. “Not really. Phineas… she has complete control over him.”

The platypus’ eyes widen, “He… went into your mind?” After a moment, he adds, “What was it like?”

“Nauseating. Now can you get me out of here?” The young woman struggles in her ice prison. “I’m literally freezing!”

----------------

“He just obeyed her? No question?” Ferb looks worriedly over at Perry. This could mean that the ray has completely taken over his mind.

Candace starts to nod, then stops. “Wait, no. He tried to get out of it, but she threatened to… hurt you two.” She raises her head to stare at her brother. “And he said, ‘why would I care?’ I missed what happened next, but he ended up…” She shudders.

Ferb raises his eyebrows. “He reacted to her threatening us? Well, nice to know he still cares…”

“And he did seem really sorry when he was inside my head. He even asked me which places I especially wanted him to stay out of.” Candace shivers again. “But it was the most…”

Her brother nods, “I know what it feels like, Candace.”

Perry and Candace stare at him. “What?”

He looks down at the ground, “I asked him to find a memory for me once. Phineas and I have no secrets from each other, so I wasn’t worried about privacy.”

Candace finally finds the ability to speak, “You what?”

Ferb sighs, “I wanted to see what my mother looked like, okay?”

Shocked into silence again, Candace looks down at her cup of coffee awkwardly. Perry chatters, “So… was it worth it? Finding the memory of your mother?”

The inventor smiles sadly, “Yes, yes it was.”
