One shot: Bucky's Death and Perry's Adoption

Phineas and Ferb does not belong to me.

Perry screams over the thunder, trying to locate his mentor. Bucky had taken Perry on a mission to save the world from one of the first evil villains the Tri-State area had ever seen. When the rain started, Bucky had been swept away from Perry by a flash flood, and Perry is frantically
swimming around looking for him in the murky water. Finally, he finds the limp form of the old dog hanging onto a tree branch. Perry pulls Bucky out of the water and helps him to the shelter of a forest.

Lightning strikes somewhere nearby, and Perry thinks that he hears a scream. Bucky jumps up on his feet, "That was Phineas!" He starts to run across the road, not noticing the headlights getting closer.

The platypus runs after his mentor, yelling, "Wait! Bucky! There's a truck coming!" But it's too late. Bucky tries to jump out of the way, but the truck hits him fully on. The old dog crumples, and the truck drives on, leaving a mangled dead dog in the middle of the road.

Perry screams. Having never seen anyone die before, this horrible death is traumatizing to him. In the future, every thunderstorm will bring the image back to his mind. To Perry, a thunderstorm means death.

The baby platypus runs to his mentor, screaming. He nearly faints when he sees Bucky, who must have died instantly. "You were like a father to me. The father I never had." Perry calls Major Monogram on his watch communicator. He turns the watch so that the Major can see the mangled dog on the road, and Monogram tells him that he will come right away.

Three months later, the Flynn-Fletcher family walks into O.W.C.A.'s pet store. Perry recognizes Candace, Phineas, and Linda from a photo on Bucky's desk.

"Look Ferb, this one's looking at us both at the same time!" Phineas points to Perry.

Perry makes up his mind. Bucky had died trying to find this boy, and Perry would start where he left off. "Chrrrrr." He says in his cutest voice.

When the boys let him out of the carrier that they brought him home in, Perry runs up to Candace, but she pushes him away roughly. Ferb picks him up gently. "That was mean, Candace."

Candace looks down at her new step-brother. "Well, keep your stinky platy-thing away from me, then." She runs up to her room, crying silently.

Phineas looks after her worriedly. "Come on, Ferb. Let's bring Bartholomew up to our room and show him around!"

As they go into their room, Ferb says, "I don't think that Bartholomew is the right name." Phineas agrees.
